A 26-year-old mother along with her friend has been charged with murder after one of the two boys they had beaten for 22 hours continuously at a motel in Ohio succumb to his injuries in the hospital during treatment.
According to The Hamilton-Middletown Journal-News reports police said that the 5-year-old was bound for 22 hours in a wooded area and struck on his head and body.
26-year-old, mother of the two children, Theresa Hawkins-Stephens and her 29-year-old accomplice Rachael Bostian, were charged with murder felonious assault, and threatening children. The Bond which is set for them is $1 million.
A third woman was also involved who reportedly is the mother of second accuse, Rachel Bostain. Ramona Bostian, 56, is charged with child endangering and felonious assault. And her bond was set for $500,000
The trio had beaten the boys for almost a day with blanket covered on them. The boys were so severely injured that the police and team of doctors were left in tears to see the pain and torture they had undergone.
One of the boys is still undergoing the treatment in the hospital.
Police say officers responding Wednesday to a 911 call about an unresponsive child found the younger boy with life-threatening injuries and his seriously injured brother hidden under a blanket
Middletown police Maj. Mark Hoffman said Thursday that investigators believe the 5- and 6-year-old boys were beaten after one took food.
Motel management said that the three women stayed at the motel for one or two days, and that staff members did not see the children.
The Preliminary hearings for each of the women were set for Friday, May 6. “This is going to a preliminary hearing,” Butler County Prosecutor Mike Gmoser told FOX19 last week. “I want the public to see this case as early as possible.”
All three women are from Licking County.
