Indonesian mayor Arief R Wismansyah made some wacky comments at a govertment-run- pregnancy seminar in Tangerang,

located to the west of Jakarta. He actually tried to redefine the laws of nature and unknowingly attempted to garner some negative publicity over his remarks.

According to him, Instant noodles have the tendency to turn your infant into gay. Haplessly, it’s not the other ‘gay’ around which signifies happiness. His claims about instant noodles and formula milk making babies gay have outraged the entire world and he was successful in making himself a butt of buffoon on social media.

He came up with his own novel explanation, where he lays the blame squarely on instant noodles. “To create Indonesian children that are healthy, smart, and competitive, the most important thing is, from the beginning, to provide them adequate nutrition, especially breastfeeding.” Wismansyah told onlookers reported by Indonesian news publication Okezone.

He thinks as parents get busier and busier in modern times, they’ve become more dependent on pre-packaged food like instant noodles and canned milk—a trend which he claims is halting the growth and development of children and somehow turning Indonesia’s children into homosexuals. “It’s no wonder there are more LGBT’’ quoted Wismansyah

He didn’t stop here, after blaming all sorts of packaged food for turning little toddlers into gay. He faulted social media and Internet for spreading LGBT pomposity and advised parents to supervise what websites their young ones were visiting. Food, Children and Social media, this uncanny relationship of the trio have no scientific reference and can actually never have any logical relevance. His theory of ‘ You are what you eat’ doesn’t justify his claims. It’s more or less a parody of the same.

The growing hue and cry over homosexuality is not new to Indonesia. Indonesia’s defence minister in one of the interviews said the LGBT movement was more dangerous than nuclear warfare, reported the Daily Mail. In January, Indonesia’s minister of research and technology, urged that LGBT students to be banned from universities.

Homosexuality is at first neither a disease nor a crime and people should start accommodating themselves with this fact that has scientific relevance unlike Mr Wismansyah whacky accusations.
