A 22-year-old woman charged with second-degree murder for killing her 4-day-old infant.
Aishia Marie Pacheco, the child’s mother, was charged after she confessed to the murdering of her infant. She is being held under a $1 million secured bond.
According to court records, Pacheco called 911 at around 6 am on Tuesday Morning reporting that her child was not breathing. The dispatcher helped Pacheco conduct CPR on the infant’s motionless body. Medics arrived and pronounced him dead.
She confessed to the crime in the evening when she was interviewed and questioned by the sheriffs.
According to sheriff, Pacheco pressed her baby’s face against her chest, suffocating him Monday night. She held his lifeless body in bed with her for sometime, then put him back in the bassinet and went to sleep. She didn’t call 911 until the next morning.
In her public profile on social media, Pacheco posted the following around 8:30 Monday night:
“My little boy Tyler Isaiah and I finally got to come home today. He is doing great and I love him so much. Im (sic) learning alot with him and im (sic) so proud to be his mom. Labor was tough and recovery is even tougher but im (sic) doing it for my son. Thank you mom and dad for helping me with everything including how to be a great mother to my son. Love you guys!!”
She at first said that it was an accident but later confessed that she couldn’t handle the baby crying’s and smothered him to death by suffocating him.
Officers at the scene found the baby on the floor and “seized the babies’ bedding and took fiber samples from the floor where the baby was found,” since “the infant had fibers in his mouth,” according to the court documents.
The baby was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for an autopsy.
