Each case of rape in India is itself setting a trademark for being the most distressing. In one heart-wrenching incident a six-year-old student was ‘raped’ as punishment for not doing her homework in time in Singrauli district in Madhya Pradesh. The incident happened on 23rd march.
The accused has been identified as Satya Narayan Sharma who reportedly asked the girl student to go to the backyard and kneel down as punishment where he later followed her and raped her.
The 6-year-old sustained many injuries and was admitted to the district hospital for two days for treatment. She was discharged on Monday.
The incident took place at Kursa village situated about 80 kilometres from the district headquarters. She went to school as usual on 23rd march but had not completed her homework and accused teacher Satya Narayan Verma, 23, punished her for the same and asked her to go the school backyard and kneel down.
He threatened her with dire consequences and asked not to reveal anything to anyone. The girl went home crying but no one was present at home. The incident only came to light when the mother noticed bleeding in her private parts at night while asleep. She narrated the whole traumatic incident to her parents and thereafter was taken to hospital.
The girl’s parents filed a police complaint the next day after consulting the villagers. The accused was on the run but police was able to nab him the other day.
According to the Superintendent of Police Singrauli district, “The accused teacher has been arrested, booked under relevant sections and sent to jail”.
In the past 14 days, Madhya Pradesh has witnessed more than 10 cases of sexual assault on child below the age of 10. The figures suggested by the report have to be taken seriously by the authorities to stop such incident and increase the safety of children.
