A 35-year-old man was brutally murdered and buried by his wife,Deepa in Dhirikuti slum. While the incident reportedly occurred four to five days back, police found the body of the victim from his house on Saturday.
Victim husband has been identified as Shyam Sundar Hansda alias Ashok of Sulan village in Keonjhar district that worked as a driver there. According to his friend, he went missing for four five days to which he lodged a missing complaint. It was after five days, neighbors complained of a foul smell coming out of the small slum where Ashok was living with his wife who is also missing since a week.
The foul smell coming out of the Ashok’s house was actually of the Ashok’s dead body that was buried in the ground. The body was recovered from five feet under the ground inside the house after breaking open the lock
in the presence of the Magistrate.
Police officials also found a cloth that was tied around the neck of the victim. A driving license recovered from the house helped the police confirm the identity of the deceased.
After investigations, police found out from the local people that both Ashok and Deepa were staying here for a week but had a troubled relationship. Extra-marital affair angle is also something police is looking out.
Police have suspected that a male person must also be involved in the crime as the body cannot be buried single-handedly, a forensic officer said.
The body of the deceased has been sent to Capital Hospital for post mortem while his wife remained untraceable. Police launched a manhunt to nab the accused as early as possible.
Ashok’s landlord said that they both used to have arguments frequently but Ashok was understanding husband and always tried to pacify things but she never loved him.
