The incident occurred on 4th May when reportedly after a heated argument and war of words, husband snatched wife’s phone to check her texts.

The incident came to light only when the matter reached police on May 7 when Sunitha Singh complained of assault and domestic violence. Two days later, her husband Chandra Prakash Singh filed a complaint accusing Sunitha of attempting to kill him with a knife.

Chandra Prakash works as a senior analyst at a software firm while Sunitha quit her job recently.

According to the police, when Chandra Prakash returned home from office around 11 p.m. on May 4, Sunitha was reportedly busy on her phone. When Chandra Prakash enquired about dinner plans, she asked him to order food from a restaurant, which infuriated him, the police said.

“There are severe injury marks on Chandra Prakash’s right-hand fingers. We have registered a case and a probe is on. Both husband and wife have lodged complaints against each other and we are questioning them about the incident, this is a domestic case. They are free to pursue cases against each other. But we are summoning their parents to ascertain whether this dispute can be resolved amicably.” police further added.

After checking her phone, the husband found some obscene messages being exchanged with her friends that infuriated him and when he confronted her wife about the same, she in a fit of rage took a kitchen knife and slashed his three fingers of his right hand.

Sunitha Singh and Chandraprakash Singh from Bihar have been married for seven years. They relocated to the city three years ago and were working for different IT firms.

Chandraprakash informed the police that he was afraid of his wife and demanded round-the-clock protection.
